Exciting times for Quin:
new baby showed up on March 29, 2006.
When Mom and Dad came in with her I just kind of stood there with
Hippo looking at her like “what is THAT?”
then I ignored her for about a day. After that I figured she must be staying
so I have been good with her since then.
I call her “Baby Thister”
after the baby arrived, Mom was nursing her. When she finished and handed the baby to
Granny, I dive in
for a little Ninnie myself. When Mom went for the block, I cried and
said “Me baby too!”
- In May
we moved out of our big house for remodeling into Mom’s townhouse she
bought when she moved here. It’s a
lot smaller and doesn’t really have a back yard but we had a good summer
anyway. I call them old house and
- My 3rd
birthday was a blast. Since we are out of our house for the remodel we
had a pool party at Wink and Robbin's. It was lots of fun and Granny
didn't even drop my cake this year.
- I have
started talking up a storm but it is really hard to understand me
still. I got referred to a speech
therapist who said I have an “expressive language delay” which basically
means I am a really late talker. I
understand everything and comprehend everything, just have trouble putting
it into words people can understand.
Since I am getting close to 3, I now have to go through the school
system for speech therapy and that is a whole long process and I may resolve
the problem on my own before I ever get through all the evaluations.
- Ask me
my name and I will tell you "Big Quin" thanks to Daddy
- At my
3 year checkup I was 35 ¾ pounds and 40 inches tall. That puts me in the 90-95% for height
and 75-90% for weight. Dr Rigby
guesses that I will be about 6’2” – 6’3” and weigh about 190 pounds based
on my growth rate.
still have baby eczema but have it a lot less than I used to. Dr says I will probably grow out of
haven’t been sick much since Christmas.
So it looks like I may have taken the brunt of the childhood
started potty training in late May and it is an ongoing process but I am
mostly there now that I am 3. Mom
says she would rather give birth again than potty train another child.
Funny things I do and say:
of my favorite sayings: “Don’t cry
baby” and “What’s up Doc” and “That’s gross” and “Aw, Man!”
Dad makes train sounds to mimic me I tell him “Pot that Daddy!”
looked at my tousled hair one morning when I woke up and said “I need a
potty training and spending a good bit of time with no pants, I ran in to
get Mom’s attention and told her “Look, a big one!”
- I give
my Hippo a ‘pop’ and put him in time out.
- I play
with trains CONSTANTLY. Everything
is trains. Thomas the Train in
particular. On the rare occasion I
am not playing with trains, I like to put together puzzles.
favorite books: Complete book of
Stories of Thomas the Train, Songs from the Station (A Thomas Song book) Curious George
and the Bunny, Clifford the Big Red Dog – The Missing Beach Balls, Good
Night Moon, Good Night Gorrilla. I like to read The Very Hungry Catepillar to Mom and Dad some nights instead of them
reading to me.
